Privacy Policy

1. About this policy

This policy explains how information is handled when you use Readmira. Readmira may be hosted by different organizations or individuals. The person or organization providing your instance (the “Operator”) controls the information stored by that instance and is responsible for privacy requests and any additional notices required by local law.

Because deployments can use different AI, speech, storage, and authentication providers, ask your Operator if you need the exact provider list for your instance.

2. Information collected

Account information

Readmira may store your name, email address, password hash, profile color, avatar, sign-in provider identifier, native language, and languages you are learning. Passwords are stored as hashes rather than readable passwords.

Content you provide

This includes text you paste, files and books you upload, PageLens page photographs and transcriptions, URLs and feeds you add, cover images, recordings you create, settings you choose, and information voluntarily submitted in a payment-assistance application.

Learning and activity data

Readmira stores information needed to personalize the experience, such as words encountered and saved, familiarity status, translations, lesson and course progress, reading activity, review results, estimated level, selected interests, generated audio, and AI-feature usage.

Technical data

The server may receive standard request information such as IP address, browser type, device information, requested pages, timestamps, and error details. Readmira may derive and store a country code from trusted network headers or an IP geolocation provider to display and enforce regional subscription pricing. The exact logs retained depend on the Operator’s hosting setup.

Advertising measurement data

Readmira uses the Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, and TikTok Events API on customer-facing pages. Meta and TikTok may receive information such as pages visited, referring URLs, browser and device details, IP-derived location, advertising identifiers, hashed email or account identifiers, and conversion events such as registration, trial activation, or purchase. Readmira uses this information to measure advertising performance and understand whether an advertisement led to a visit or conversion.

3. How information is used

• Provide accounts, libraries, reading tools, translations, audio, vocabulary tracking, recommendations, and progress insights.
• Personalize difficulty estimates and learning support.
• Authenticate users and secure the Service.
• Operate, debug, maintain, and improve features.
• Measure usage of paid or metered features when enabled.
• Measure and improve Readmira advertising campaigns.
• Comply with law and enforce the Terms of Service.

4. AI and voice processing

When you use an AI-assisted feature, Readmira may send the relevant text, page image, sentence context, language, instructions, or learning metadata to the AI provider configured by the Operator. When you request natural speech or pronunciation analysis, relevant text or audio may be sent to a configured speech provider.

Only use these features with content you are permitted to process. Do not submit sensitive personal information unless it is necessary and you understand the provider’s privacy practices.

5. When information is shared

Information may be shared:

• With hosting, storage, authentication, AI, translation, dictionary, book-catalog, feed, speech, IP geolocation, and advertising measurement providers used to operate and promote the Service.
• With the Operator and authorized administrators who maintain the instance.
• When required by law, legal process, or a valid government request.
• To protect users, the Service, or another person’s rights and safety.
• As part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or transfer of the Service, subject to appropriate notice and safeguards.

Readmira does not sell personal information for money. Depending on local law, sending advertising measurement data to Meta or TikTok may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising. Each provider processes information under its own privacy policy.

6. Cookies and local storage

Readmira uses a session cookie to keep you signed in. It may also use browser storage to remember settings such as your theme, current language, selected tabs, chart ranges, and last visited route. The Meta Pixel and TikTok Pixel may use or read cookies and similar identifiers for advertising measurement.

7. Data retention

Account information and learning data are generally retained while your account exists so your library and progress remain available. Providers and server logs may use different retention periods. The Operator may retain limited information after deletion where required for security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, backups, or fraud prevention.

8. Security

Readmira uses reasonable technical measures such as password hashing and signed session tokens. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Protect your credentials and avoid uploading information you would not want processed by the Operator or configured providers.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, restrict, object to, or delete personal information. You can update some profile and language settings in the Service. Contact your Operator for requests that are not available in the interface, including account deletion.

You may avoid optional AI and voice processing by leaving those features off. You can sign out to clear the active session cookie, adjust browser settings to block or clear cookies and local storage, and use Meta’s and TikTok’s advertising preferences to manage how those providers use information for ads.

10. Children’s privacy

Readmira is not directed to children who cannot legally consent to data processing in their location. A parent, guardian, school, or other authorized organization must provide any required consent and supervision. If you believe a child’s information was collected improperly, contact the Operator.

11. International processing

The Operator and configured providers may process information in countries other than your own. Privacy protections may differ. The Operator is responsible for any transfer safeguards required for its deployment.

12. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as Readmira changes. Material updates should be communicated through the Service or another reasonable method. The effective date above identifies the current version.
